"Tax injustice, tax avoidance, and tax evasion, are key drivers of the rampant inequality in our world today. Trillions upon trillions of euros are stashed away, where they should be used for health, education, transport, social care, and all the other public services and investment we urgently need. Only by working together within the EU can Member States take the necessary action to tackle this issue. We demand new legislation to crack down on this tax avoidance and evasion.
Mandatory, public country-by-country reporting of tax arrangements, the new ‘fair taxpayer label’ for companies who engage in good tax practices, better protection for whistle-blowers, a common consolidated corporate tax base, a common definition of tax havens, and sanctions for firms making use of tax havens; all these are important tools in our arsenal in the fight against avoidance and evasion. I urge the Commission and Member States to implement these measures swiftly and effectively."@en1
