"Mr President, ahead of the Council meeting I am going to read a letter that I have written to Mr Tusk on behalf of the UK:
‘Dear Mr Tusk, as your special relationship with Mr Cameron clearly isn’t working and his so—called negotiations with you have collapsed like a pack of cards, I thought it might be helpful to outline what the British people actually want from the EU. Trade: as we are the second largest economy in the Union, we must be able to negotiate our own free- trade agreements, because one Commissioner for 28 states does not fit all. Agriculture: a common agricultural policy costs us more to feed our own people and keeps developing countries, like Africa, in poverty. Fisheries: we want to take back control of our own territorial waters, restore our fishing fleets and protect our own fishing stocks. Justice: we do not want, and accept, a separate court in Luxembourg overruling the UK judiciary and directly elected Members of Parliament. Migration control: well, you know what the British people want here. We must have control over who comes to Britain and that is non-negotiable. You cannot deliver on this, so therefore we will Brexit’."@en1
