"Madam President, last week I hosted an event in Parliament where Callum Russell came to talk about gap year opportunities for young people with disabilities. Callum is studying at the College of Europe in Bruges. He is a very articulate and determined young man. He is British and he is blind. But disability cannot be allowed to define a person. Disability must not be a barrier to playing a full role in society. Callum pointed out that the websites of the European Union institutions are completely inaccessible. This is not acceptable. Let us, for goodness sake, get our own house in order. We have a saying in the UK: people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. So let us make sure that our own institutions’ websites are properly accessible before we go further."@en1
