"I voted against this motion because it was too weak. The amendments proposed by my Greens/EFA Group were rejected by Parliament. It is disappointing that the Commission has not brought forward a new strategy. I know that this is one of the issues on which my constituents in Wales feel very strongly and I have had many messages about it. In 2014 I organised a petition calling for a Commissioner responsible for animal welfare. I believe that if this had happened, we would have a strategy now."@en1
