"Mr President, I just wanted to say something about the role of informal and non-formal education for these kinds of children, because often it is non-formal education providers who can make a huge difference. They are there on the ground, they can be significant others, and they play an enormous role in the development of children’s and young people’s confidence. They are often there when statutory agencies are not there and they can often develop a relationship of trust with young people. So it is very important that we recognise the role of these organisations, and this would include the role of sport and arts organisations which can develop children’s self-confidence, their sense of themselves, their sense of identity and help them to problem-solve and to be very resilient in the situations they find themselves in."@en1
