"While I welcome the report on Tax Rulings and other Measures similar in Nature or effect as it deals with many important tax issues, I voted against mandatory CCCTB. CCCTB should be optional. Furthermore, I do not support the EP perspective on the unanimity rule on Taxation matters. Ireland secured a protocol in a recent referendum guaranteeing the unanimity in Tax matters and I fully support this position. The Commission have already launched a public consultation to help identify the key measures for inclusion in the relaunch of the CCCTB proposal. Ireland maintains a strong position that tax is an issue for Member States and I will examine the Commission’s new proposal when it is published with that in mind.
The report overall has a lot of very positive aspects, in particular that whistle-blowers whose revelations promote the public interest should be better protected, increased transparency, Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and the simplification of the tax system."@en1
