"Together with my EPLP colleagues I voted in favour of this report, for which I was also the S&D shadow rapporteur, as I believe that the EU cohesion policy can be a powerful tool to address problems faced by marginalised communities, such as unemployment, poor housing conditions, limited access to public services, notably health services, multiple forms of discrimination and social, cultural and economic exclusion. I particularly welcome the report’s call for more and genuine involvement of representatives of marginalised communities in the development, implementation and management of EU funds and projects in this field, as I strongly believe that programmes and policies are most effective when those concerned are actually involved in the decision-making and management processes. The main achievement of the report is a strong unified call from MEPs for the Commission to provide guidance for a common definition of ‘marginalised communities’."@en1
