"Child poverty remains a problem in my constituency of the West Midlands, as in the rest of the UK. UK Government policies, however, perpetuate situations where poverty needlessly affects young people. Labour MEPs have always championed a better quality of life, especially for the most vulnerable in society. I supported this report, which calls for a real commitment from Member States to tackle the factors which are causing child poverty and increase the scope of social support for children. It promotes labour laws that guarantee – amongst other things – a statutory adequate minimum wage and collective agreement, which will provide greater security for families and help us fight precarious employment."@en1
