As agreed with Member States, national governments commit to ceilings for the emission of certain pollutants. I supported the raising of these ceilings to more appropriate levels and the call for binding targets for 2025. Committing to binding targets is the only way we will effectively reduce pollution, and this is crucially important, as we see that 90% of people living in cities in Europe are now exposed to levels of pollutants classified as damaging to human health."@en1
