Poor air quality is responsible for over 400 000 premature deaths each year and its annual economic cost to health is estimated at EUR 300-900 billion. Around 90% of Europeans living in cities are exposed to levels of air pollution deemed damaging to human health. In addition, vulnerable socio-demographic groups, such as pregnant women, children and the elderly, and those from low-income groups are particularly affected."@en1
