"I was very proud to support these measures, along with my Labour Party and Socialist and Democrat Group colleagues. Poor air quality is responsible for over 400 000 deaths per year and its estimated cost to the economy is hundreds of billions of euros. In my own region, London, the number of premature deaths is estimated to be around 10 000 people per year. This of course affects vulnerable people the most: pregnant women, children, the elderly and those on the lowest incomes. This is why we urgently need measures to address dangerous pollutants across all sectors."@en1
