"I voted against Parliament’s negotiating position going into the budget negotiations because the current budgetary framework is unsuitable in a world where the EU needs to be able to shift funds rapidly to meet crises, such as the one in the Mediterranean at the moment. Furthermore, I feel that expanding the Multiannual Financial Framework is not the way forward at this time, as citizens are looking to the EU to be a careful guardian of its resources. It was also wrong for the money for Juncker’s investment plan to come from funds already targeted at increasing productivity and growth: it was a self-defeating method of trying to improve growth – giving with one hand while taking with the other."@en1
