To get the best value for money for the European taxpayer, and to ensure that Wales can move forward as rapidly as possible, it is critical that the ESI is underpinned by a sound economic strategy. Furthermore it is important that this support can be redirected to meet emerging economic and social challenges as they develop. This is very important to ensure that the European Union continues to work towards addressing the economic disparities that exist between many of the European regions."@en1
