"Madam President, I have just voted to ban mobile phone roaming charges. The new law will see a decrease in charges from next April by 75%, with a complete ban on extra charges in June 2017. This is great news for all of us and means that soon, when we travel within the EU, we can use our phone just the same as if we were at home. Recent research by uSwitch shows that currently one in six people holidaying in Europe came back to a phone bill that was GBP 100 higher than normal. So this change will make a big difference to all our lives. Labour MPs have been at the forefront of the drive to end this roaming rip-off. Soon all of us will be able to post holiday photos on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram without worrying about a huge bill. This is just one of the ways in which we in Britain are winning a better deal thanks to European action and highlights once again why we are better off in the EU."@en1
