"Mr President, I will be voting in favour of this report later today because I believe it strikes the right balance between protecting consumer rights, encouraging competition and fostering innovation. The prospect of ending roaming charges in the EU is a significant bonus for consumers, and I am pleased that my constituents will be able to use their phones across Europe without the fear of incurring huge bills. With regard to the open internet, this report takes a sensible approach. It will ensure that all internet traffic is treated equally, with some reasonable exceptions to overcome congestion. It will also allow for new and innovative technologies that have specific speed requirements, such as in the area of e-health. The report also allows countries like the United Kingdom to maintain our system of parental filtering. This is an important issue for my constituents and I am pleased to see that this is been safeguarded."@en1
