"I voted against because this resolution calls upon the Commission to legislate on more than one matter – namely ‘family insolvency’ and harmonisation of mortgage contracts, as well as to determine which financial institutions should be blacklisted.
Nevertheless, I have sympathy with the situation in Spain. I merely believe that it is appropriate for this situation to be resolved through the Spanish government rather than legislating for all 28 countries in the European Union. It is a classic EU power-grab to suggest that a problem in one nation should require legislation in 28."@en1
