"In paragraph 13 there is a call for the Women on Boards Directive to be adopted, which includes gender quotas. The EU has absolutely no right to impose gender quotas on UK companies. Quotas are demeaning for women, and recruitment should be based solely on merit, not on gender. You do not fight discrimination with more discrimination. Calls for EU mandatory pay audits and EU sanctions, in paragraph 37, shows once again that the EU is trying to interfere and take more powers where it has no right to them. Paragraph 41 states that you want to see a reversal in the burden of proof between employer and employee. This would rip up the justice system in the UK and do away with the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’. UKIP, of course, supports gender equality, equal pay and any steps to fight discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, orientation or any other characteristics. Everyone should have the same protection and the same opportunities to prove what they can do. UKIP cannot, however, support calls for more EU legislation and interference in UK laws and freedoms. Only our elected and accountable Government should be able to decide these things, not unelected EU bureaucrats."@en1
