lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, energy security is a major challenge for Europe. In the UK, dependency on imports, in particular of natural gas, has increased significantly over the last years. In this context, I would like to stress that solutions to energy security include deepening market integration, strengthening our efforts on energy efficiency and promoting the development of renewables. Doubling the capacity of the Nord Stream pipeline has several implications which crucially need to be evaluated by the Commission. First, Mr Arias Cañete, the Commission must ensure that the project complies with EU laws on energy markets. I am also urging the Commission to investigate urgently what the doubling of the pipeline’s capacity will mean for the central and eastern European countries. It is in our interests to find a comprehensive solution for energy security which will benefit all Member States. I am not convinced that this project is part of the solution."@en1
