Wales has a rich history of traditional industries and crafts, and in our agricultural sector we have already benefitted from being able to demonstrate clearly to consumers the quality of produce from Wales. I welcome initiatives that support our traditional producers of non-agricultural goods and enable them to showcase the authenticity of their products to as many consumers as possible. Looking beyond the adoption of this report, it is important that any future system for geographical indication for non-agricultural produce is well thought through, with careful prior evaluation and consideration given to the cost implications and the impacts for producers and consumers. We must ensure that costs and red tape for businesses are kept to a minimum."@en1
