"We all appreciate that when you buy a glass of Champagne, you expect it to come from that region. Agricultural products in the EU are given this protection yet this is not currently the case for non-agricultural products like Scottish tartan or Staffordshire pottery. I voted for this report, along with my Socialist colleagues, to send a strong message to the Commission that it should put forward legislation to correct this anomaly. This would be a real step forward for consumers, manufacturers and local regions. Crucially, it will help protect local jobs and could boost tourism."@en1
