"I voted in favour of subjecting 5-(2-aminopropyl)indole (5—IT) to control measures. Four Member States have already reported a total of 24 fatalities where 5-IT has been detected in post-mortem samples. The substance 5-(2-aminopropyl)indole is a synthetic derivative that contains a positional isomer of alpha-methyltryptamine (AMT), which belongs to the tryptamine family, many of which have hallucinogenic and other psychoactive effects in humans.
Despite the structural similarities of 5-IT to AMT, 5-APB and phenethylamines such as MDA, it is difficult to predict the pharmacological profile of 5-IT based on a comparison with these other substances due to potential differences in mechanisms of action. There is to date no data available from scientific studies on its pharmacokinetics."@en1
