"Mr President, I want to take this opportunity to send a message from this House to my fellow Socialists and my fellow trade unionists in the United Kingdom, who may be led astray by talk of David Cameron’s deal on workers’ rights. I want to say to them that David Cameron has to go back to his Tory Party and tell them that he has done a deal on workers’ rights, when those people in the Tory party know what we do here on workers’ rights. They know what we have been doing for decades in giving rights to people at work which British governments, like the Major government in the 1990s, would never otherwise give if they did not have to. That is why he has to pretend that he has got a deal. I want to assure comrades back in Britain, though, that it will not be a real deal. It will just be the usual smoke and mirrors and blarney from David Cameron."@en1
