He could have added a Shakespearean observation: ‘a winter of our discontent’, if we do not get to grips with the migration problem. There is an onus on all of us to play our part, because the vast majority of European citizens are generous people who feel very much for the refugees. There is an onus on all Member States to play their part as generously as possible. It is then up to the European Union to look at the external matters and see how we in the safe countries can help, particularly by providing assistance and dealing with the smugglers. If we all put our resources together we can have a winter that will not so full of discontent for the refugees or for the citizens of Europe."@en1
