I am a strong supporter of efforts to promote the blue economy and I am proud that my constituency is leading the way in one of its emerging sectors, with plans for a new tidal lagoon, that could deliver both environmental benefits (in the form of clean, sustainable energy) and investment benefits for the surrounding area. Notwithstanding the enormous potential of such emerging sectors, I am pleased to also see this report picking up on the role of traditional sectors and highlighting the importance of education, training and research, as this will be central to the development of the blue economy, both economically and sustainably."@en1
