lpv:spoken text	"I voted for this report. The public hearings of prospective members of the European Commission are an exercise that is well worthwhile. Even if there had been no problems whatsoever with any of the candidate Commissioners, the hearings provide an opportunity for Parliament and the public to discover the personalities, the general approach and the priorities of each candidate Commissioner and assess their qualifications. And when there are problems, it is better that they are discovered prior to the Commissioner taking office, rather than afterwards."@en1
