lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, I fully support the Moi-Sommer report on cloning of animals, and I do this with the overwhelming backing of hundreds of my constituents, who are deeply concerned at the consequences of cloning for animal welfare and the sustainability of our food production. That is why I urge the Commission to go much further than its initial proposal and completely ban the use of animal cloning in farms. I also call on our Member States to ensure that cloned animals, their offspring and products derived from them cannot be imported into our market. Rather than hurting farmers and consumers, these measures will benefit them, given that they reassert to the world our leading animal welfare and food standards. Thanks to the single market, the EU has the opportunity to answer citizens’ concerns, protect biodiversity and promote high global standards."@en1
