"In March 2015, the Commission confirmed its decision to withdraw the waste proposals which it had published in 2014 as part of its Circular Economy Package.
Broadly, I welcome elements of this report as it recognises the link between making better use of resources and minimising waste if we are to move to a more circular economy. This is vital and I do want it to be ambitious – not least if one considers the potential positive impact on Northern Ireland.
But there are elements that are problematic. I am a firm believer in evidence-based policy making, and the report verges on a number of points towards being too prescriptive. It is important to have ambitious targets, but they should be underpinned by sound scientific analysis and assessment."@en1
