"Mr President, the Agea report on employment guidelines provides a good template for EU policymakers. It provides a comprehensive overview, from requesting a reliable indicator for extreme poverty to identifying risks to the success of the Youth Guarantee. It asks Member States to cut red tape for small businesses, and it also talks about promoting entrepreneurship. Crucially, it talks about aligning training systems in Member States more closely to labour market needs and tackling precarious employment. But I also wish to reiterate the words of Commissioner Thyssen in the debate on this dossier when she said that all citizens want decent work – decent jobs – that will support them and their families.
In the ALDE Group, we support the creation of decent jobs, as defined by the ILO. We want to use clearly-defined terms that can be understood and measured."@en1
