At the same time, I think we struck a balance between the protection of personal data and existing EU corporate governance structures. In particular, I was very pleased to be able to support the proposal on country-by-country reporting in order to help ensure full transparency on tax payments. The call to the Commission to instigate country-by-country reporting will affect all companies who trade across borders in all sectors. In my opinion, this entails a significant change in EU taxation policy. It will assist the Commission in fighting tax fraud, tax evasion, tax avoidance and aggressive tax planning at both EU and global level."@en1
