"Right from the start I have outlined that the TTIP process should be transparent and that it is paramount that our public services are not opened up to multinational private interests. The compromise which I voted for explicitly calls the negotiators to go back to the drawing board with investor protection – it removes ISDS and calls for a reformed process. It also calls explicitly for protection of our public services. The debate on TTIP has moved on considerably over the past six months. Thanks to pressure from the public and from MEPs, the Parliament has now recommended against ISDS as we once knew it. But the extremely important thing to remember is that this vote is not on TTIP – no final deal is close to being agreed. It is a vote on the Parliament’s recommendations to the negotiators. If or when a final deal is agreed, it has to be ratified by 28 Member States and by the European Parliament. If that final deal risks dismantling our NHS, I will not be voting in favour."@en1
