"Mr President, Prime Minister, the brave and dignified Greek people asserted the primacy of democracy over the technocratic and neoliberal order in Europe. During, before and since Sunday’s decisive vote, your government upheld its democratic anti-austerity mandate whilst trying to seek agreement with European partners. However, creditors are inflicting poverty and deprivation on Greece, refusing debt relief and investment. Even the IMF, which is not a friend of the Left, confirms that Greece needs debt relief.
Despite hostility and interference from President Martin Schulz, who has behaved like a self-appointed dictator, or the cowardly behaviour from a sturdy poster boy of the EU, Irish Taoiseach Enda Kenny, the Greek Government has stood up for Greece, stood up for Ireland, stood up for Spain, for Portugal for Europe, more than any government has ever done. Irish people from Kerry to Derry stand with you.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, you used the most powerful weapon in the world – democracy – and it won before the first vote was cast. We are proud of who you are and the policies that you represent."@en1
