"Madam President, according to the figures quoted in this report, the renewable energy economy will create 20 million new jobs in Europe. But let us look at some of the numbers behind that headline statistic. Research by a Spanish academic found that for every one green job created, another 2.2 jobs were lost in the real economy. In the manufacturing sector alone it is estimated that about four jobs are lost for every one green job. That means, according to the Commission’s own projections, that, with the EU’s green agenda (which ignores any opposing science), 44 million jobs will be lost.
Unemployment across the whole of the EU is 10.5%. Towns in my region in Britain, including Grimsby, Bradford, Barnsley and Hull, have youth unemployment of over 25%. But the only jobs I can see being created by this report, and by the green representatives, are in the trade unions which Ms Lambert calls for, where the people in question will, no doubt, get significant salaries and enjoy very generous expense accounts."@en1
