"Madam President, yet again I find myself in this Chamber speaking against more daft motions, legislations and reports. This report calls for the whole of the EU to have the same integrated public transport ticketing system. The people of the United Kingdom do not want any more of their information to be stored by the Commission in an EU superstate database. The people of the United Kingdom do not want to have to change something that is not broken. Our ticketing system on public transport is fine as it is. If we want to change it, it is up to our own country, not the EU. The public sector back home in the UK is facing huge cuts and has been for a while. We cannot afford to rip up and change all of our systems just to suit a few in this place. It is entirely unfeasible for the EU jobsworths to believe that one of my elderly residents in a rural village of Shropshire should have to change the way she uses the bus just to get to the shops. If it is not broken, do not fix it. That is why I voted against."@en1
