"Tomorrow we finally vote on this report. I have consistently called for major amendment of the report to ensure that our public services, food, health, environmental and labour standards in Scotland are protected. I also reject any form of ISDS and I want a clear exemption for Scotland’s NHS. With an overwhelming mandate from the many thousands of constituents I have heard from, I will vote for radical amendments, in line with the position set out by SNP members at our recent conference. As an SNP MEP, I remain pro-democracy, not anti-trade. For Scotland, the USA is our largest trading partner outside the EU. Therefore, I sincerely hope that the Commission and Council will listen to the serious concerns surrounding TTIP, all of which have been made crystal clear in the recent round of political wrangling in Strasbourg and Brussels. The language used in President Schulz’s so-called compromise on ISDS is unacceptable, allowing for a new mechanism for dispute resolution that we simply do not need. We already have law courts. This approach exemplifies the report’s failure to categorically exclude Scotland’s NHS and public services from TTIP negotiations, despite endless assurances from the European Commission, and others, to this effect."@en1
