"Madam President, something is puzzling me about this debate. Firstly, as Mr Schwab said, we have had free-trade agreements, which obviously are about economic growth and progress. Yet we have been led to believe that a free-trade agreement with the biggest power in the world would actually not create jobs and growth. This is mindboggling. Secondly, we are asked to reject TTIP now as if it were a when in actual fact it says right up there: negotiations for TTIP. That is no it is a work in progress. So let us have faith in our negotiators, let them deal with the issues we are concerned about. In my country, we are very concerned, as Mr Nicholson pointed out, that maybe agriculture might become a bargaining chip. We do not want that to happen. ISDS is a big issue, but Commissioner Malmström’s proposals are a major step forward compared with what we have had in the past. I say, like mature people, let us vote on TTIP when we have TTIP to vote on."@en1
