"Mr President, first of all, I want to thank Bernd Lange for his considerable efforts in engaging with all the opinion—giving committees.
Secondly, I want to say to the very many citizens who contacted me that we are not deciding on TTIP today. This is our third opportunity. We had two reports in the last parliament, but this is our third opportunity for Parliament to lay down our principles and our requirements for a sustainable TTIP.
In the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, we clearly laid out our requirements for TTIP. We want to ensure that labour, environmental and social standards are enforceable. We want to guarantee the rights of Member States to legislate, organise, fund and regulate all public services, and we want the explicit exclusion of public services from the deal. We aim for full and effective implementation and enforcement of the fundamental ILO Conventions and the ILO Decent Work Agenda.
Finally, we were very clear on our rejection of the Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) with our rejection of any form of private arbitration courts in TTIP."@en1
