"Madam President, our global climate talks in Paris this December are a critical opportunity which we should not miss. A strong, comprehensive and globally-binding deal will provide a clear signal to citizens and governments worldwide that we are committed to the massive transition needed to tackle climate change.
But for any agreement made in Paris to be truly meaningful for working people, here and abroad, the concepts of change management and a just transition must be included in the global deal. It is only by creating decent jobs in up-and-coming industries, inspiring people to innovate through their participation at work and ensuring that social security systems guarantee protection in times of change, that we will win public trust and support for the transition. We urgently need to tackle dangerous climate change. This opportunity should not be lost. It must be grasped."@en1
