"Mr President, the rapporteur addresses the need for the European Union to become more competitive, to create jobs, increase productivity and improve its use of resources: all worthy aims. However, to achieve these objectives, she states the European Union should avoid exceeding the earth’s resources, which would also mitigate climate change.
There has been no discernible global warming for the last 18 years, even if you support the IPCC theory. How can anyone still believe that the key to making the European Union competitive is to establish a new legislative framework? For example, the proposal for an eco-design directive will impose EU ecological design requirements on products. How can anyone still believe that a new European policy framework would deliver legal certainty to investors? Who can afford to invest in such an environment?
Nonsensical over-regulation from the European Commission will not help our economy or industries. It is now clear that regulatory uncertainty is one of the biggest threats to investment and production.
New legislation imposed by the unelected in Brussels will not ensure the re-industrialisation of Europe. We need to reinvigorate the declining EU economy with a new competitive approach."@en1
