lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, I would like to draw attention to the roll call vote on paragraph 21 of this report. I voted against this Orwellian-type incursion of EU power against Member States. It is all about giving the Commission power to oversee the funding of political parties within Member States. This is a gross incursion into the independence of the British democratic system. The unelected Commission should have no oversight in relation to the running of political parties, as it is a political and legislative body of the European Union. I also challenge the oral amendments after paragraphs 12 and 19 on the basis that they call for action to be taken by the Commission. I believe that a sovereign British Parliament, free from the European institutions, should be free to make such representations through the usual diplomatic channels rather than relying on this body."@en1
