"Madam President, I voted in favour of this report. We have a situation in Ireland where thousands of women are forced to take the boat – or get an airplane if they can afford the flight – to have an abortion in England. We are going around patting ourselves on the back – and rightfully so – for voting in favour of gay marriage, and apparently we are all equal. However, I would say there were quite a few poor unfortunate women on the boat on the evening that we voted in favour of gay marriage who actually would not have felt that equal at all. One part of the report that I do find a bit strange (and I do find it in general a bit strange) is that if you mind your own children at home, you are not considered at work, whereas if you mind someone else’s children in a crèche you are considered at work. Now I think that if you mind your children, you are at work. Why not include that as work and not as being unemployed? – because my mother was very employed when she was minding us."@en1
