"Mr President, by my count there are now just five MEPs out of 750 left in the Chamber for the second debate on intellectual property rights this evening. I speak to further my previous point about remembering the interests of small business. Brussels has more lobbyists than Washington DC. We have more than 30 000 lobbyists. To put that in context, that is over 40 lobbyists for every one MEP. No wonder constituents are complaining to me about big business lobbying, albeit on the issue of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. They are right to do so. I thank the rapporteur for mentioning the interests of small businesses. Particularly in fields like software development, small business can be squashed by the legal teams of big business. The people I want to be lobbied by are not the large corporations. I want to be lobbied by my constituents."@en1
