"Madam President, just to contradict what that Member across there said, the majority of people in Ireland do not agree. Thirty-five percent support the current government. Do the damned maths. Growth in Ireland may well be one of the best in the EU. One of the reasons we will be given is structural reform. The headline looks good but, behind the headline, it is hell for the most vulnerable in Irish society. Structural reform has meant bullying those who are least able to fight back. Structural reform requires our government to urinate down the backs of our people while demanding we appreciate the free shower. Talking about the most vulnerable is abstract. So let us talk about Breda. Breda has Alzheimer’s. Breda is happy in her home. Structural reform says Breda would be better off in a private nursing home. Reality says otherwise. However, structural reform demands that reality is manipulated. Reality says Breda will not live much longer if she is moved from her home. Structural reform says she will thrive. We know who is lying. GDP – what does it mean? It does not mean happiness, it means hell! That is what it means."@en1
