This is a matter which could, and should, be determined by the countries concerned. I do not know whether the proposed measures are good or bad, helpful or counterproductive to countries with olive trees. It is not for me to judge. I therefore abstained, and hope that other MEPs will extend the same courtesy to the United Kingdom. Better yet, we should stop taking action at EU level on issues which do not affect all of the countries within the European Union."@en1
