"Cadmium is a carcinogenic substance which, under the Restrictions of Hazardous Substances Directive has been banned in electronic products in the EU since June 2014 so there are no more products on the EU market which contain this substance. The Commission, in January this year, introduced a delegated act which would see cadmium quantum dots being allowed again in LCD TVs by allowing an exemption for its use. There are already cadmium-free quantum dot TVs on the market so there is no need to reintroduce toxic cadmium to electronic products. It is vital that the protection of consumers’ and workers’ health is the priority and for this reason I voted in favour of this resolution to reject any reintroduction of cadmium electronic products into the market."@en1
