My reaction to it is that I am very proud of what I did when I was Immigration Minister; I am proud of the fact that we have a Conservative Government. I am also proud of the fact that it is a government which deals with immigration issues by mixing humanitarian approaches with responsibility and security. Were we to have seen a different outcome in our elections recently, with any need to concur with some of the more extreme views that certain parties have expressed, I would be a very disappointed man, and it would not help those who sought sanctuary or those who wish to deal with immigration rules for their benefit."@en1
