"We voted against this report as we feel it attempts to harmonise laws. We feel the UK already has an excellent regime for regulating resistance to antibiotics, and fear an EU scheme would undercut this via harmonisation. This would put public health at risk, which is unacceptable to us. A UK independent of the EU would work with the WHO and other international bodies, as we feel they have a legitimacy the EU does not. We feel any developments in this field should be science—led, with the consultation of parties which are impacted by any changes"@en1
