"As a member of the Committee for Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, I am acutely aware of the need for a coordinated approach for controlling Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
I am pleased to see that this report calls for cooperation on a European level as well as antibiotic research and development. I welcome the inclusion in the report of continuous training for healthcare professionals, as preventing the spread of infection is more effective than curing it.
The Conservative Party acknowledges that although healthcare should in principal remain a Member State competence there are some areas that require international cooperation, particularly in this field, so I have voted in favour of this report."@en1
