"This own-initiative report seeks to establish the best practices and measures which Member States could implement in order to tackle the growing problems of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) and Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) in the EU. There are many aspects of this report which the ECR is happy to support. We support the recognition of the role of vaccination, which can limit the use of antibiotics and the development of antimicrobial resistance. The report also endorses the ‘One Health’ concept as outlined by the World Health Organisation, recognising that human and animal health and ecosystems are interconnected, and that policies should be devised accordingly. Furthermore, we strongly back a call for greater incentives for public and private sector cooperation to reinvigorate antibiotic development R&D."@en1
