"Madam President, I voted in favour of the report on financing for development. There were positive aspects in this report, such as calling on high-income countries to contribute more to development, plus a need for greater transparency in the EU budget in terms of financing for development. Most importantly, the report deals with the role of women in development and strongly supports the principle of gender equality as it places this at the core of development activities. It targets investment in key sectors such as health and education, ensuring all development finances take full account of the situation of women and girls. While Sinn Fein does not support extending the 1967 Abortion Act to the north of Ireland, we do support sexual and reproductive health and rights, as they cover a wide range of social, economic, cultural, civic, political and other rights."@en1
