"I supported this motion for a resolution and indeed virtually all of the amendments. Some of these amendments referred to other areas, such as the Arab world, and to ISIS atrocities, and were not directly linked to the Kenyan massacre. Nonetheless I was happy to support them, as was the majority of the Parliament, because this sends a strong message about the systematic singling out and killing of Christians by different groups.
There is no doubt that the persecution of Christians is intensifying. The Pew Institute in Washington has conducted research in 13Â countries and found that Christians face varying degrees of persecution. The International Society for Human Rights has found that 80% of religious freedom violations in the world today are directed against Christians.
This resolution sends a strong message."@en1
